Keira is excited to start her hike trough Petawawa Terrace...

But fall is here and the leaves are changing in the park. She has seen these trails before...

Which are full of great educational stops that teach you about wildlife in the area...
And the terrain is easy to navigate.
Keira asked her daddy if they could go off the trail and explore the forest instead...
She wanted to see new wildlife and smell new smells....
So Keira and her daddy left the trail behind.
As they walked their new path the woods got thicker...
The hills were steep and fallen trees became fun obstacles to overcome....
The sun poked through the tree top...
And Keira was happy to be on a new adventure...
She saw leaves of many colors way up high above her head...
She hiked through grass that was taller than her...
She felt like she was in the jungle!
Daddy stayed close by to make sure she was safe...
But he still let her see all the wonders the park has to offer.
Keira listened to her daddy when they came across something strange they didn't recognize...
They were sure not to touch it and carried on their way.
Finally they came to a clearing....
And Keira was happy to see that they had made it to their destination with nothing but a compass, four paws and two feet...
They made is to the Old Fishing Pond!
We did it! High five! We made it through the wilderness and back on the trail. Time to go back on the leash and go home to rest! What a great day at Petawawa Terrace Provincial Park!
