About me

Stacey studied Print Journalism and Photography at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, where she was the Entertainment Editor for the Algonquin Times. She got her start writing advertorials for the Ottawa Sun. After publishing a piece in the Algonquin Times about a local band, she was hired as a copywriter by Hummingbird Music. She continued to freelance, working with musicians and bands doing promotional writing, bookings, and photography. Shortly after she continued her media career at TV Media Inc. as  Editorial Editor and Layout Designer until she moved back to the Ottawa Valley.

Inspired by her love for animals, she launched Paws For Reaction, a pet-themed blog that is now read all over the world. Paws For Reaction will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2022. She has been featured on Dog Food Advisor, Traversing, People.com, and LA Times Online. She is an online influencer, working independently and with marketing companies including Blog Paws and Taplinfluence. She has created marketing campaigns for companies like PetSmart, Nutrience, blueStem, Whimzees, and Bayer.

Stacey continued her work as a freelance writer and photographer in the Ottawa Valley. Her work has been featured in the Pembroke Observer, Petawawa Post, myFM, and the Eganville Leader, and she was an Animal Training Examiner for Examiner.com.

In 2015 she joined the Pembroke Animal Hospital (PAH) team, working in client service and as Media Coordinator; handling internal communications, copywriting, in-house photography, and social media design and management. She created the PAH American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Accredited Practice of the Year application; shooting photography, writing copy, and designing the over 300-page document. The hospital went on to win the prestigious international award, becoming the AAHA 2016 Accredited Practice of the Year. PAH is the first Canadian clinic to win the award. Her photography was featured in a Trends Magazine article in which she was interviewed about the AAHA win, as well as in all press for the win and on AAHA's blog Red. Her photography has been used in AAHA promotional and educational materials.

She consulted with Digital Empathy on the new PAH website redesign www.Pemah.com and created copy and photography for the project. She was interviewed by OVMA about the new website design. In 2020 she began a similar role, embarking on a career as a Communications Manager at the Consolidated Cat Hospitals of Ottawa; Bytown Cat Hospital, and Merivale Cat Hospital. They are Ottawa's only veterinary hospitals devoted exclusively to cats and are co-owned by Ottawa's only board-certified feline specialist, Dr. Susan Little. In fact, she's one of only six feline specialists in Canada!

Stacey is one of the few people working in media and public relations in Ontario who specializes in veterinary and animal care content.
